Yao people in mountainous area in SW China shake off poverty

Great changes have taken place in remote mountainous area, SW China's Yunnan, where 60 families of Yao ethnic group used to live in poor conditions.

MENGLA, Nov. 18, 2019 (Xinhua) -- Living conditions in remote mountainous areas in southwest China's Yunnan have been greatly improved by the help of local government and companies.

Some 60 families of Yao ethnic group in Hebian villager group used to live in poor conditions. However, houses, water and power supply, and roads have been upgraded comprehensively in recent years.
