SANAA, July 29 (Xinhua) -- Yemen's Houthi rebels said they fired a ballistic missile towards Saudi city of Asir on Monday, Houthi-run al-Masirah TV reported.

"The missile hit gatherings of Saudi soldiers in Dair military camp in the southwest of Saudi Arabia," the television said, citing a Houthi military spokesman.

"The attack came in response to the Saudi-led coalition's airstrikes on Yemen," Houthi military spokesman Yahya Sarea was quoted as saying.

There has been no confirmation from Saudi Arabia yet on the alleged attack.

Houthis have recently stepped up drone attacks on Saudi Arabia, but most of the drones were intercepted by the kingdom's air forces.

Saudi Arabia has been leading an Arab military coalition against Iran-allied Houthis in Yemen for more than four years in support of the exiled internationally-recognized government of Yemeni President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi.
