YANGON, June 7 (Xinhua) -- A Myanmar trip of Chinese cultural walks activities with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)-2019 was inaugurated at the China Cultural Center in the commercial city of Yangon Friday.

The two-day event includes performances of the Chinese traditional opera, dance drama, exhibition of Nanning non-material cultural heritage and tourism promotion.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Yang Weinong, deputy director of Nanning Culture and Tourism Bureau, said the Myanmar stop of China-ASEAN cultural exchange trip-2019 is an important activity in promoting bilateral friendship through cultural exchange.

Deputy Head of the China Cultural Center Shi Ying said the event, which took place on the occasion of Chinese traditional Dragon Boat Festival, has pushed the cultural exchange and cooperation between China and ASEAN as well as between China and Myanmar, and enhanced the connectivity and cultural links between China and regional countries.

The present activities, part of the series of China Tourism and Culture Week, play an important role in further deepening the friendship between the peoples of China and Myanmar, she said, anticipating that through the cultural exchange, it will bring the soul and hearts of the two peoples closer and deepen mutual understanding.

At the ceremony, a memorandum of understanding on China-ASEAN intangible cultural heritage exchange and cooperation mechanism was signed.
