SANAA, May 22 (Xinhua) -- Yemen's Houthi rebels said they launched a new drone attack on Wednesday on "Saudi military aircrafts hangars" at Najran airport in the Saudi Arabia's border city of Najran, the group TV al-Masirah reported.

It was the second attack on the airport in less than 24 hours.

"The attack was carried out by bomb-laden Kasif-K2 drone and targeted the Saudi military aircrafts hangars at Najran airport," it said.

There were no comments yet from the Saudi-led coalition on the Houthi fresh attack.

On Tuesday, Saudi-led coalition's spokesman Turkie al-Maleki said a vital civilian facility in Najran was targeted with a drone carrying explosives. The Houthi rebels claimed responsibility for Tuesday attack and said they targeted an arms depots at Najran airport and caused fire to break out in the facility.

The coalition's spokesman vowed that there will be "a strong deterrence against the Houthi militias in accordance with the international humanitarian law," Saudi-owned Arabiya TV quoted al-Maleki as saying in a briefing on the Tuesday's drone attack.

The attacks on Najran airport came after Saudi forces intercepted "ballistic missiles" above the Saudi western cities of Jeddah and Taif on Monday.

Houthis have been targeting Saudi border cities since the beginning of the war in Yemen.

Earlier this week, the Iran-allied Houthi rebels vowed to strike 300 vital military targets inside Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The Houthi rebels said they would halt their attacks once the Saudi-led coalition halts its military operations inside Yemen.

Last week, the Houthi drone attacks damaged two Saudi Aramco's oil pump stations and caused limited fire, according to Al Arabiya television.

The Saudi-led coalition has been intervening in the civil war in Yemen since 2015 to support the Yemeni exiled government against the Houthi rebels who seized Yemen's northern provinces, including the capital Sanaa.
