JAKARTA, March 25 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian shuttlers are targetting to retain the women's doubles title at the upcoming India Open slated for March 26-31, a team coach said here Monday.

In the championship graded World Tour Super 500 Series, Indonesia will field three women's doubles pairs including the defending champions Greysa Polii/Apriyani Rahayu, said the team's women's doubles coach Eng Hiang.

"The other two pairs are Ni Ketut Mahadewi Istarani/Rizki Amelia Pradipta and Della Destiara Haris/Tania Oktaviani Kusumah, and the target is to grab the title here (India Open) from any of those pairings," he said.

Greysa Polii/Apriyani Rahayu won India Open last year after beating Thailand's Jongkolphan Kititharakul/Rawinda Prajongjai 21-18, 21-15.

Indonesia Badminton Association (PBSI) sent at least 14 players to the 2019 edition of the tournament to be held in KD Jadhav Indoor Hall, New Delhi.

Besides the women's doubles, PBSI pinned great hopes for the men's singles and mixed doubles players to advance further.

PBSI relies on Tommy Sugiarto in the men's singles and Praveen Jordan/Melati Daeva Oktavianti in the mixed doubles.

Praveen/Melati finished second in the 2018 India Open, losing 21-14, 21-15 to Denmark's Mathias Christiansen/Christinna Pedersen in the final.
