LONDON, Aug. 27 (Xinhua) -- The third weekend in the Premier League has given plenty of things to talk about as Wolverhampton Wanderers showed that reigning Champions Manchester City are human after all, Unai Emery had good and bad news and Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez tried to do the impossible: win a game without his side having the ball.

Wolves 1-1 with Man City was a great way to kick off the weekend with the newly promoted side once again showing they are not going to be intimidated by reputation and on this occasion their defense also performed.

Manchester City have looked like a well-oiled machine in the opening weeks of the season and it was refreshing to see a rival with the courage to try to take the game to them and get a reward for their efforts.

Maybe Newcastle boss, Benitez could take a page out of the Wolves notebook: his side lost 2-1 to Chelsea who had 81 percent of possession in St James' Park.

Benitez could argue that he was missing players through injury and that his team were minutes away from clawing a point, but his tactics never looked as if they were going to give Newcastle the points against a Chelsea team that looks fired up and hungry and kept going until the end.

Both Arsenal's Unai Emery and West Ham's Manuel Pellegrini needed a win when their two sides clashed at the Emirates and in the end it was Emery who claimed the points as Arsenal won the London derby 3-1.

That should have taken the pressure off Emery, but the absence of Mesut Ozil from the Arsenal starting 11, sparked rumors of a training ground argument with the coach. Emery insisted Ozil was out due to sickness but nobody will have failed to see that Arsenal were closer to finding the intensity Emery is looking for without him on the pitch.

Liverpool beat Brighton 1-0 to make it 3 wins out of 3 games and to no doubt strengthen hopes of a title challenge on Merseyside.

Jurgen Klopp's side were below their best, but as they did away to Crystal Palace a week ago, showed they are able to dig deep to graft a win - something they didn't always do last season.

Palace meanwhile went to sleep at the start of the second half away to Watford and paid the price with a 2-1 defeat.

The win means Watford have won their first three games to a new Premier League season for their first time in their history and fans will already be looking forward to next Sunday's game which sees Tottenham visit Vicarage Road.

Elsewhere Aleksandar Mitrovic scored twice to get the ball rolling for the newly promoted side with a 4-2 win at home to Burnley, who continue to misfire as their attention is distracted by their attempts to qualify for the group stage of the Europa League.

A late Harry Maguire goal for Leicester City gave Claude Puel a winning return to Southaampton's St Mary's Stadium, and just down the road in Bournemouth, Everton's Michael Keane scored his first league goal for the club, only to be substituted in the closing minutes after a clash of heads left him with a slight fracture to his skull which will leave him out of action for at least a month.

Finally Manchester United will play Tottenham on Monday night in a game which could keep headline writers busy for several days whatever the result.
