RABAT, Jan. 19 (Xinhua) -- The Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita and his Senegalese counterpart Sidiki Kaba expressed here Friday their common willingness to further strengthen bilateral ties.

"The relations between the two countries have a solid foundation and a strategic perspective through a number of concrete projects and agreements," Bourita told the press after talks with Kaba.

This meeting was an opportunity to assess bilateral joint projects and set up mechanisms for diplomatic consultations and sectoral cooperation to serve our strategic vision, he pointed out.

The talks were also an opportunity to further coordinate the stances of the two countries, particularly regarding migration issue and counter-terrorism.

The Senegalese FM highlighted the strong and historical ties between the two countries, saying that Dakar and Rabat are in continued consultations to further boost cooperation between the two countries as well among African nations.

On migration issue, Kaba stressed the importance of "building within our countries a strong economy in the framework of sustainable development, in order to retain people in their home region," calling on all states to work in this direction to ensure "a better future for our children."

As for countering radicalism, Kaba recalled that the two countries share the same positions on this issue, highlighting the importance of defending the values of peace and tolerance conveyed by Islam.

"We should work to ensure that the best face of Islam is understood by the overwhelming majority and this religion of peace is not equated with violence," he added.
