ZAGREB, Sept. 6 (Xinhua) -- A reception commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, organized by the Chinese Embassy in Croatia, was held here on Friday evening.
Addressing the event, former Croatian president Stjepan Mesic said that Chinese people had made "immeasurable contributions" to the victory over fascism, stressing that the victory has demonstrated that peace must be built on the basis of equality and mutual respect.
Mesic expressed belief that friendly relations between Croatia and China will see further development.
Wang Peng, charge d'affaires ad interim of the Chinese Embassy in Croatia, recalled the history of mutual support between the Chinese people and all ethnic groups in Yugoslavia, including Croats, during the World Anti-Fascist War, and outlined China's ideas and initiatives for building a better world, adding that China is willing to further expand and deepen bilateral ties.
