COLOMBO, Sept. 6 (Xinhua) -- The Sri Lankan government has decided to further develop and continue operations at Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport, a senior official said Saturday.
Following an inspection visit to the airport, Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka Sunil Jayarathne said the government was in discussions with a number of international carriers about launching services to the airport.
He said the government also planned to offer tax concessions to encourage more tourist arrivals through the airport.
The airport, Sri Lanka's second international airport, officially opened in 2013. ■
