ST. PETERSBURG, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) -- About 80 tons of petroleum products spilled at an oil depot in the town of Olenegorsk in Russia's northwestern Murmansk region, local media reported on Monday.
The regional department of Russia's Ministry of Emergency Situations said that it received a report Sunday evening of a fuel spill at the oil depot in Olenegorsk, a town located about 110 km south of Murmansk, according to a TASS report.
The ministry said a pipeline linked to a gasoline storage tank failed to seal properly, resulting in the leakage of about 80 tons of AI-95 gasoline within the depot.
Fuel supply was promptly shut off, and the spilled petroleum products have been contained within special trapping facilities, it added. ■
