KABUL, Sept. 6 (Xinhua) -- Afghanistan's state-owned power company, Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS), has signed deals on nearly 10,000 megawatts of electricity generation, representing a significant advancement in the country's energy sector, the company said on Saturday.
The 18 deals included MoUs for 9,123 megawatts of electricity generation and associated infrastructure, along with contracts for an additional 284 megawatts.
The initiatives spanned diverse areas, including solar, gas and coal-based power generation, expansion of substation networks, manufacturing of electrical equipment and partnerships for banking and financial support.
Afghanistan has grappled with chronic power shortages for years, depending extensively on imported electricity from neighboring nations. ■
