NEW DELHI, Sept. 6 (Xinhua) -- At least six people died when a cargo ropeway trolley used for carrying construction material up the hill collapsed and fell from a height after its cables snapped in India's western state of Gujarat on Saturday, confirmed a local official over phone.
The incident occurred at the Shaktipeeth site on Pavagadh Hill in the state's Panchmahal district.
Senior district official Ajay Dahiya reportedly told media that five people were inside the ropeway trolley when it collapsed. One more person on the ground also died at the scene, he added.
All the deceased were construction workers. An investigation was ordered to know the reason of the mishap, and fix accountability on those responsible. ■
