DPRK slams Japan for instilling twisted history into heads of students

PYONGYANG, April 11 (Xinhua) -- The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on Wednesday slammed Japan's revised high-school textbook guideline that "beautifies Japanese imperialists' wars of aggression and colonial rule over other countries."

The official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said in a commentary that the Japanese government endorsed a revised high school textbook guideline in late March, obliging students to be taught of Japan's "dominium over the Tok Island."

The island, located in the East Korean Sea, is claimed by Pyongyang, Seoul, and Tokyo (which calls it Takeshima). The island is currently controlled by South Korea.

The textbook revision came only one year after similar moves by Tokyo for elementary and middle schools, the KCNA said.

"These moves would infuse students with the twisted idea beautifying the past Japanese imperialists' wars of aggression and colonial rule over other countries," it said.

The official daily Minju Joson also said in a commentary that the aim of claiming Tok island as Japanese territory is to "imbue the rising generation with the 'pride' about Japan's history of aggression along with the ambition for seizure of other's territory".
