UNITED NATIONS, April 2 (Xinhua) -- The 15-panel UN Security Council will visit Iraq, Myanmar and Bangladesh in two separate trips later this month, the rotating president of the council announced on Monday.

Ambassador Gustavo Meza-Cuadra of Peru, this month's president of the council, told reporters at UN headquarters that the two trips were still in the planning stages.

"We are still working on the coordination of these visits and later I might be able to give you more details," he said.

UNHCR has warned that the coming monsoon season threatens to flood huge swaths of the massive Kutupalong camp in the Cox's Bazar region of Bangladesh.

The council president said the visit to Iraq has the full backing of the government. Iraq is scheduled to hold elections next month.
