YEREVAN, Feb. 20 (Xinhua) -- Trade turnover between Armenia and Russia has increased by over 26 percent in 2017, Armenian Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan announced Tuesday.

He made the remarks while meeting with Co-Chair of the Armenia-Russia Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation, Russia's Transport Minister, Maxim Sokolov, according to a press release from the Armenian government's website.

Armenia has met all its economic targets for 2017 with a remarkable 44.6 percent increase in exports, 19.1 percent increase in imports and observed growth in almost every economic realm, according to Karapetyan.

"In January of 2018, we have a 10.2 percent increase of economic activities in relation to the same period of last year," said the Armenian Prime Minister.

"We are in a development trend now and we are very much interested in our Russian friends and colleagues partaking in it," he added.

According to the Russia's transport minister, the relations between Armenia and Russia have always been on a high level and they have been reflected in economic aspects as well.

"We link this not only to the steady development of both Armenian and Russian economies, but also to the deepening of integration within the Eurasian Economic Union," Sokolov highlighted.

During the meeting, the parties have agreed to hold regular and active meetings of the intergovernmental commission.

Armenia has been a full member of the Russia-led Eurasian Economic Union since January 2015.
